Ingredients:
One small handful fresh mint about 6-7 large leaves
A quarter of fresh lime cut in half
One shot,1.5 oz, white rum
Two tablespoons of brown , raw sugar for a more authentic taste
Ice cubes and club soda to fill glass
Preparation:
Place mint and lime slices in cocktail glass. Muddle gently with muddler or wooden spoon. Though muddling is necessary to release the essential oils of the fruit. Add sugar and let it rest for a minute.
Fill the glass with ice, add rum, and enough soda water to fill the glass.
Stirr gently, garnish with an extra lime slice and sprig of mint, and 2 straws.
hhhmm, a cocktail refreshment with a sense of class. Very cool. I can't wait to bring it up to my best friend who will be celebrating her bridal shower this Saturday.

ReplyDeleteYou could really get away with half the sugar, but otherwise it is good... make sure to break up the mint leaves or mash them with a fork. I also used Mint flavored sparkling mineral water for the soda! It is great!

ReplyDeletethe most refreshing drink ever perfect on the beach with friend. The glacial mint I use is so balsamic no do not need to add extra mint flavour with soda.Keep it natural as it best.Try also not to break the leaves or you will get green mint pieces in your teeth. To release int essence just press well the leaves and let them rest with the sugar for a while, it will absorb the great flavour of the mint itself.

ReplyDeleteHow much would it cost to make these??? not considering Im going to buy the cheap 10 dollar bottle of rum.. How much would the ingridients cost to supply the whole bottle??(we drink half 1 night then half the next within 3 people)how many mint leaves do i have to get for the whole bottle?? what about the sugar cane juice ??? since there is just a splash of sodawater I can do with just 1 20 oz bottle?? Cant wait 2 try it

ReplyDeleteThese are perfect for a hot summer day! I made simple syrup and expanded the recipe to make a whole pitcher. Used the pineapple mint growing like mad in my front yard. And I loved them! In fact, I'm making another pitcher tonight!:)
ReplyDeleteThis recipe is so AWESOME!!! I made it exactly as is and it was so good. I made a second cup and used Fresca instead of club soda and it was equally good but you could add more liquor to it this way without it being overpowering. I could probably drink 10 cups but I won't.

This is basically how i do mine. I just use malibu rum, no sugar, fresh lime. I love extra mint too! Mojitos are my favorite!
